FBN ASIA FAMILY RETREAT
15 - 17 March 2019
Saranam Resort & Spa, Bali
If you are attending the retreat for the first time, this experience will give you a first-hand exchange of ideas and good practice with Asian family businesses, especially those from Indonesia.
If you are a regular retreat attendee, this experience reinforces your learning from previous retreats. Over time, you will be able to develop a common language and shared approach to communication, emotional regulation and decision-making with the family members you attend with. In turn, this can engender sustainable transformation in areas of your choice. With this in mind, family attendance is recommended for ideal learning benefits.

Three simple rules that enable birds to fly in formation have profound application for family systems. This retreat is about awareness and raising consciousness in order to discern the threads of stories weaving through the family. Balcony and Dance is a visualisation tool that enables new perspectives on life’s challenges that can be used long after the retreat. IQ/PQ/EQ/MQ describes the four major ways we use our brains. Unveiling our preferences in a family context will help build cohesion and alignment in our stories as well as promote understanding of why we are different from each other. My Story |
7.00pm | Welcome Reception |
9.00 – 10.30am | Session 2 My Life Purpose, David Kantor’s Structural Dynamics During this interactive session each member will discover in two words the purpose of their lives. Words such as “Transforming Lives, Unleashing Heaven, Championing Growth, Savouring Life, Beholding Beauty and Deepening Connections”. For many, the discovery of their life purpose brings about lasting change and transformation. To round off exploration of ‘my story’, we will delve into the world of structural dynamics to understand the meta-structures that undergird stories and all verbal communications. My Story |

2.00 – 3.30pm | Session 3 Visualisation and My Lifeline Families need to know not just where they have come from but where they are going. Using inspirational photos and paintings, each family group will discuss and draw a picture of their desired future and start the journey of moving towards it. Some of you may have done a Lifeline exercise before; this exercise however will be different. Each member will be asked to explore three different stories from their life and to share with the rest of the family group. The three stories are our ‘love story’, our ‘hero story’ and our ‘moral choice story’. These are the underlying stories that shape our behaviour and the way we interact in our families and comprise the deepest level of Kantor’s structural dynamics. The idea is to continue the session into dinner where family members can share one or more of their deepest stories with each other. Our Story |
